DECEMBER 2025

This is it, the last month of 2025. Can you believe it? It’s been quite a good year, and I see great things on the horizon. Come June of 2026, we’ll be celebrating 50 years of Rising Tide Natural Market; a half-century of meeting newcomers, making friends, and building community. They say if you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life, and that’s been true for me. I’ve been blessed with a place to put my passion for healthy living to great use. I’ve had an amazing team behind me, and wonderful customers to meet and greet each and every day.

2026 also marks our tenth year of doing our annual New Year’s Day Customer Appreciation Sale. Mark your calendars and be sure to visit us on January 1st to receive 20% off of everything in the store.

Until then, have a very happy and healthy holiday season.

With gratitude,

Jerry

Seasonal Produce

Seasonal Fruits

Citrus fruits are all the rage this time of year, and we’d like to give a special shout-out to the clementine. With a flavor that is equal parts sweet and tart, these cuties are the perfect size for throwing in your bag for a quick healthy snack. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re loaded with vitamin C (great for cold and flu season), and are a good source of antioxidants, minerals, and fiber. There’s also another tiny fruit we want to draw your attention to: the kiwi. It’s boring brown exterior hides its bright green flesh, caused by the chlorophyll in the fruit. When you bite into a kiwi, all that natural chlorophyll means you’re also ingesting antioxidants, which combat free radicals and can support heart and digestive health, so eat up.

Seasonal Veggies

Anything that helps strengthen your immunity is a wintertime must-have, and that’s why brussels sprouts are an essential to your cold-weather diet. Along with fiber and antioxidants, these nutrient-dense vegetables contain vitamin C, which helps support your immune system. There are lots of ways to prepare them: roasted, baked, shredded, sautéed, or even in a salad. Once they’re cooked, drizzle them with some balsamic glaze. It’s fantastic!

Steve’s Supplement Suggestions

Did you know that the longest night of the year is in December? December 21st to be exact. Known as Winter Solstice, this long night means less natural vitamin D, which is why that’s the supplement that Steve is recommending this month. Between hours of darkness and low temperatures that keep you indoors, most of us aren’t out in the sunshine for as long as we are during the summer months. Vitamin D is great for the immune system and vital for the absorption of calcium. If you’re looking for a supplement to support your vitamin D intake, Steve’s choice is BlueBonnet’s Vitamin D3*, sourced from fish liver oil and formulated in a base of safflower oil. By the way, it also happens to be one of our most popular supplements by far.

*As with any supplement, check with your doctor first for the okay, especially if you’ve got any medical conditions, are on medication, or are breastfeeding or pregnant.

Smoothie of the Month

Tis the season for being green! The Grinch is back as our December Smoothie of the Month, but we promise our blend of ingredients like mint, cacao nibs, and chocolate mint protein powder will make you anything but cranky.

Charity of the Month: NOSH Delivers!

Founded in March 2020, NOSH Delivers! was established to provide much-needed food assistance to individuals and families during the pandemic. Offering both food delivery services and a pantry, Nosh Delivers! serves members of the Glen Cove, Locust Valley, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, and Bayville communities. Though the pandemic is over, the needs of the community have grown, and Nosh Delivers! continues to work to help those suffering from food insecurity. We can’t think of a better program to partner with during the holiday season.

We’re hiring!

We are actively hiring a Manager On Duty (MOD) and Daytime Deli Clerks. We are looking for candidates with flexible schedules who are available evenings and/or weekends.

When it comes to grocery stores, we may be on the smaller side, but what we lack in square footage, we make up for in company culture and teamwork. There’s a reason why our team members know customers’ names, products they prefer, and even what’s going on in their lives. It’s because one of our core hiring principles is finding candidates that are a good match with our culture. Generosity, positivity, and a can-do spirit are some of our top priorities when we hire. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
