JANUARY
2026 brings a year of gratitude for us here at Rising Tide Natural Market. Come June, we’ll have been a part of this incredible community for 50 years, and we are not letting that milestone pass us by without celebrating. Stay tuned for more information about how and when we’ll be commemorating this incredible anniversary. In the meantime, we look forward to continuing our commitment to offering the most thoughtfully made, organic, and non-GMO groceries. You are the best part of us, and we look forward to honoring that fact.
With gratitude,
Jerry
KICK OFF THE YEAR WITH SAVINGS
We’ve rung in 2026 by offering sales on loads of products, which may just include some of your family’s favorites. Be sure to review our flyer to ensure you’re taking advantage of these cost savings. In addition to our extensive sales this month, we continue to offer Cadia products at everyday low prices through our RT Values program. Cadia offers high-quality pantry staples like pasta, sauce, beans, peanut butter, and frozen fruit. In addition, we’ve recently expanded our low-priced staples to include beauty products from The Good Collective. The Good Collective prioritizes sustainability, clean ingredients, and sourcing from regenerative farms (when possible). Come in and check out their lotions, body washes, shampoos, and conditioners. We’ve also lowered the price of two of your favorite products, Chomps and Siggis, so you can save while you shop.
WELLNESS THE RIGHT WAY
This year marks a continuation in the evolution of how we look at wellness and health. By focusing more on functional foods, sustainable changes, mindful eating, and self-grace, we move further away from “good” and “bad” foods, guilt, and shame around diet. Food can help you live your best life, whatever that means to you, and with our organic groceries, thoughtfully made deli and Grab & Go items, and organic salad kits, Rising Tide is stocked with everything you need to meet your wellness goals this year.
The phrase “functional food” has become quite the buzzword. But are you confused about what this means exactly? We’re here to clear it up. Think beyond a food’s basic nutritional benefits to any additional advantages it may have. Is it pro- or prebiotic? Does it have anti-inflammatory benefits or help reduce the risk of disease? Hawthorne Valley’s Wild Fermented Sauerkraut, for example, is made from only organic cabbage, sea salt, and live bacteria. This means that beyond the benefits of cabbage, it has added probiotic benefits, which are good for your gut’s microbiome. Considering whether an ingredient in your diet falls under the functional food category can also help you become more informed about what you’re putting in your body. When in doubt, however, choosing mostly whole foods or products with a limited number of ingredients is always a safe bet.
SEASONAL PRODUCE
SEASONAL FRUITS
Citrus fruits are still in season and trending at this time of year. Expand your diet from oranges and clementine to other varieties like grapefruit. Enticingly tart, grapefruits are filled with fiber, which satiates you longer. They also contain lycopene, which has anti-inflammatory benefits, making it good for cell health. Ensure your grapefruit is nice and juicy by weighing it in your hand. The heavier it is, the juicier. Also, a ripe grapefruit should have a pleasant floral smell. Need some inspiration for incorporating it into your diet? Here’s a recipe from Martha Stewart that happens to include grapefruit as well as another very healthy fruit, the avocado: Grapefruit, Salmon, and Avocado Salad.

SEASONAL VEGGIES
Kick 2026 into gear with root vegetables. From tubers like potatoes and yams, to actual roots like carrots and beets, root vegetables do well in colder weather. Some we use all the time, like onions and garlic, while others are centerstage dishes, like butternut squash and potatoes. Generally, they are nutrient dynamos and packed with fiber, antioxidants, and complex carbohydrates. They’re also versatile when it comes to preparation and can be boiled, sautéed, baked, and roasted. We love the use of the potatoes, carrots, and onions in this Warming Vegetable Soup with Ginger.

STEVE’S SUPPLEMENT SUGGESTION
Alongside the cold and snow during the winter months, are the germs: think colds, flu, and stomach viruses. Illness can take us down for days. Supporting your immune system can give your body an added jolt of protection. Steve suggests arming yourself with Natural Factors’ Oil of Oregano. Wild-crafted and organic, it contains 80% carvacrol, the compound responsible for oregano’s antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits.
*As with any supplement, check with your doctor first for the okay, especially if you’ve got any medical conditions, are on medication, or are breastfeeding or pregnant.
SMOOTHIE OF THE MONTH: THE MINT CONDITION
This smoothie’s aspirational name is backed up with ingredients that make it a perfect post-workout meal. It has banana, which contains electrolytes from potassium, pineapple, which has bromelain, an enzyme that’s great for muscle recovery, nitrates from spinach, which help deliver oxygen to muscles, and protein from almond butter. Add almond milk and fresh mint, and you have a bright, tasty organic smoothie that satiates your appetite while also supporting your body.

CHARITY OF THE MONTH: GIRLS ON THE RUN LI
Girls On the Run Long Island was founded in 2012 and is a branch of Girls On the Run’s international community. Their mission is to offer evidence-based girl-centric programming that fosters physical activity while also teaching life skills such as conflict-resolution and managing emotions. With 34+ locations throughout Long Island, Girls on the Run has been able to serve over 6400 girls to date.

JOIN THE RT TEAM
We’re hiring!
We are actively hiring a Manager On Duty (MOD) and Daytime Deli Clerks. We are looking for candidates with flexible schedules who are available evenings and/or weekends.
When it comes to grocery stores, we may be on the smaller side, but what we lack in square footage, we make up for in company culture and teamwork. There’s a reason why our team members know customers’ names, products they prefer, and even what’s going on in their lives. It’s because one of our core hiring principles is finding candidates that are a good match with our culture. Generosity, positivity, and a can-do spirit are some of our top priorities when we hire. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
