SEASONAL PRODUCE
SEASONAL FRUITS
February is peak season for kiwis. Sweet and slightly tart, there are so many reasons to incorporate this winter gem into your diet. They’re packed with immunity-boosting vitamin C, blood pressure-regulating potassium, gut-friendly fiber, and anti-cancer antioxidants. All of that in such a little fruit; what more do you need to know? Simply slice in half and scoop out the fruit, add slices to a homemade salsa, or toss some into your morning smoothie.

SEASONAL VEGGIES
Beets have our heart this February. This deep red root vegetable contains nitrates that can help lower blood pressure, along with potassium, magnesium, folate, and vitamins C and B6. You can prepare them in many different ways: roasted, steamed, boiled, and even pickled. Try roasting them and tossing slices into a salad with some arugula and goat cheese, or puree them to create a creamy beet hummus. Then again, you can get really creative and make these Beet Velvet Cupcakes just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Speaking of beets, have your tried our house-made Beet Lemonade yet? This is an absolutely delicious thirst-quencher.

STEVE’S SUPPLEMENT SUGGESTION
In honor of American Heart Month, Steve is highlighting Clinical OPC Extra Strength French Grape Seed Extract VX1®* by Terry Naturally. Lab-tested for purity and quality, it’s made with oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), which are naturally occurring compounds found in grape seed extract that can help support blood pressure, your heart, and liver function.
*As with any supplement, always check with your doctor before incorporating this into your diet.
SMOOTHIE OF THE MONTH: HEART BEET
If it’s February, it’s time for our organic Heart Beet Smoothie. Coconut water, beet juice, turmeric, mango, and strawberries are blended to create a satisfying snack that’s pumping with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Cheers to your cardiovascular health!

CHARITY OF THE MONTH: GRASSROOTS ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Founded in 2000, Grassroots Environmental Education has been on a mission to bridge the gap between scientific research and public understanding. Clean air and water, food safety, and the dangers of chemical toxins and radiation exposure all fall under the organization’s purview. Programs like the BabySafe Project, Organic Lawns and Landscapes, and Long Island Water are just some of the initiatives they’ve created to help educate and empower the public so they can advocate for and enact positive change.

JOIN THE RT TEAM
We’re hiring!
We are actively hiring a Manager On Duty (MOD) and Daytime Deli Clerks. We are looking for candidates with flexible schedules who are available evenings and/or weekends
When it comes to grocery stores, we may be on the smaller side, but what we lack in square footage, we make up for in company culture and teamwork. There’s a reason why our team members know customers’ names, products they prefer, and even what’s going on in their lives. It’s because one of our core hiring principles is finding candidates that are a good match with our culture. Generosity, positivity, and a can-do spirit are some of our top priorities when we hire. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
